About Us

For Over 50 Years, SPS Inc. has Provided a Comprehensive Range of Cost-Effective Structural Repair and Reinforcement Services

Established in 1975, SPS has built a strong reputation in specialized fields of the construction industry. With decades of experience, we are known for our unrelenting commitment to quality, end result, and customer satisfaction.

We employ highly trained and experienced personnel specializing in the repair of all types of glued-laminated beams and heavy-timber wood roof trusses. Our acknowledged innovation and expertise have earned our company a prominent role in this highly specialized area of construction.

We provide prompt and efficient services to a wide range of industrial and commercial clients. SPS offers complete on-site building inspection services to identify and correct specific structural problems in wood roof structures.

We also provide 24-hour emergency shoring services. Our service vehicles are fully equipped with specialized equipment for complete glue-laminated beam and truss repairs. Effective on-site control and supervision add to the safety of our field operations and the quality of structural repairs.  Our experienced staff conduct accurate job cost analyses and practical approaches to structural repair problems. We offer our comprehensive and selective services to project engineers, architects, developers, builders, tenants and owners of industrial and commercial structures.

Structural engineering is required for the repair of truss and beam failures.  Design and repair methods can often vary depending upon the individual conditions or application. Broken beams can generally be repaired in place to carry full design loads.  We utilize a variety of techniques to maintain a structurally sound, physically practical and economically affordable repair. These techniques include the use of the post-tensioning system, utilizing steel tension rods or high strength cables designed to increase the shear and bending strength of the beam.

Our On Site Structural Repair Offers Several Advantages, Including :

  • Our post-tension repair is more economical than removal and/or structural retrofitting.
  • Repairs can often be performed from the underside of the roof structure without disturbing the existing roof covering, thus maintaining a watertight system. This approach preserves the existing roof warranty.
  • Many single beam repairs can be completed within one day. Our design methods and construction procedures have been developed to minimize the disruption of business operations in facilities requiring repairs.

The Benefits & Practical Uses of Structural Reinforcement

A reinforced support system allows buildings to accommodate greater loads than what they were originally designed for.  Structural reinforcement and repair modifications that we provide can:

  • Support additional loads such as air conditioning units, new ceilings, fire sprinklers, and mechanical equipment.
  • Correct deficiencies in structural fabrication and design.
  • Accommodate changes in building codes that previously allowed higher stresses.
  • Prevent ponding of water on beams by eliminating sag along beam and or purlin lines.
  • Restore original strength to fire-damaged glue-laminated beams.

SPS Inc. is committed to delivering structurally sound, cost-effective solutions with minimal disruption ━ protecting your investment and ensuring the longevity of your building.
